VIED Scholarship Program: For Admission in October 2016   

   Kanazawa University has concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with MOET-VIED on accepting students through Vietnam 911 and other VIED scholarship projects. This is a unique program which offers fee waiver, simplified application and selection process, and other services.

   The application is open to the scholarship candidates of VIED scholarship. The program targets those who wish to pursue a Master’s or Doctoral degree at KU. The program runs for 24, 36, or 48 months, depending on the desired degree and the field of study. Applicants will be selected and matched with academic adviser by the graduate schools at KU, then undergo the final selection by the academic adviser. Upon successfully completing all processes, applicants will be admitted to KU as graduate students sponsored by VIED scholarship.

   This information is only for October 2016 admission. If you plan to apply for the admission in April 2017, please wait until the next call for application. We will schedule and arrange the Call for Application for April 2017 in the months to come. This homepage will be updated accordingly at that time.

2. Eligibility

 ・ An individual who is an academic staff member or a student of universities, colleges or research institutes in Vietnam and is (or plans to become) a candidate of a VIED scholarship.

 ・ An individual who meets all requirements set by Kanazawa University for the eligibility to apply to KU Graduate School as a Master’s or Doctoral student (seehttp://www.adm.kanazawa-u.ac.jp/ie/e/abroad/guideline.html for the complete list of eligibility requirements)

NOTE:

The eligibility for Kanazawa University is a separate matter from the eligibility to VIED scholarship. Please be informed that you must be eligible for both, and you must successfully complete the application and be selected for both in order to study at KU.

3. Search for a Supervisor

   You may also use the Seeds Table as a secondary reference.

   Please choose up to three faculty members of Kanazawa University whose research theme corresponds with your research topic and who can supervise you during the coursework as your adviser. Choosing more than one faculty members widens your chance of being matched with a right supervisor. Later in the application process, you will be asked to name them to request to be your supervisor.

NOTE

You do not have to contact the supervisor directly until later in the selection process. KU will contact you when the selection has progressed enough.

 

4. Application/Registration

Deadline: February 12, 2016

  After you submit the Online Application Form, you will receive an automated reply to the registered e-mail address. The reply message will contain important instructions and links to other application documents. Please follow the instructions carefully.

5. Required Documents

Deadline for Document Submission: February 26, 2016

   Required documents are listed below as well as in the automated reply e-mail. Prepare the documents and submit them by the deadline, as e-mail attachments.

        1. Diploma for Bachelor’s Degree
        2. Diploma for Master’s Degree
        3. Official Transcript for Undergraduate Course Work
        4. Official Transcript for Master’s Course Work
        5. Letter of Recommendation from VIED (NOT Award Letter)
        6. Abstract of Master’s Thesis or Another Work of Equivalent Volume and Quality
        7. Proof of English Proficiency
        8. Proof of Japanese Proficiency (optional; only if you plan to do your study in Japanese language)
        9. Kanazawa University International Exchange Student Inquiry Form (Including Research Proposal)
        10. Research Performance Questionnaire

    6. Schedule

    December 25, 2015 to February 12, 2016

    Vietnamese scholarship candidates can register online for application to October 2016 Admission to Kanazawa University.

    February 26, 2016

    Deadline for submitting required documents to Kanazawa University.

    Early March to late April, 2016

    Kanazawa University will screen and match the applicants. Also, there will be an interview by the academic adviser. Those who are successfully selected and pass the interview will be issued a LOA.

    From July, 2016
