University of Oslo PhD Research Fellow in Innovation Studies

TIK Centre for Technology, Innovation and Culture, University of Oslo (UiO), invites candidates to apply for a three year PhD Research Fellowship.

The Centre wishes to recruit a PhD candidate with extensive knowledge of innovation studies, as well as demonstrated research capabilities and a strong interest in the development of innovation research both theoretically and empirically. Innovation studies at TIK has three focal areas: macro level studies linking innovation with national and regional economic performance, meso level studies of innovation systems with an emphasis on energy and natural resources, and micro level investigations of how innovation processes take place in networks, organisations and firms. Policy issues are central in all three areas.

The announced position is part of a new research project entitled "Transforming household mobility practices through shared consumption: Low-carbon transport and sustainable energy solution in urban areas." (TEMPEST). The project is funded by the Research Council of Norway and is a collaboration between Institute of Transport Economics, TIK and other Norwegian and international partners. Institute of Transport Economics (TØI) is the coordinating project owner. Further information about the project and the complete project description are available at the project's webpage.

The recruited PhD candidate fellow work closely with the larger multidisciplinary project team and cover core topics in the Tempest project.

The candidate's work will be situated within the Centre's research group for Innovation Studies. Researchers in TIK's innovation group use historical and contemporary source material, statistical data as well as interdisciplinary methods and analytical resources. The research group has a strong track record in scientific publishing and close ties to many internationally leading innovation research units. TIK is also a member of the Norwegian Research School in Innovation Studies (NORSI) and other networks with many opportunities for early career scientific meetings and networking.
