Scholarships and Funding for Master's Degrees
There are a number of Master's funding options for our courses and these will vary depending on whether you’re a student from the UK, EU or an international student from outside the EU.
Please note: only one scholarship award can be allocated per student. If you receive an external scholarship award or postgraduate loan which only covers part of your tuition fee, you can still be considered for an Alliance MBS scholarship.
Master's student loan for UK and EU students
If you are a prospective Master's student from the UK or EU, there are potential sources of funding available. The UK Government has confirmed that Postgraduate Loans will be offered to UK and EU students starting a master's course in the 2020/21 academic year.
If you are a student from another EU country, you will continue to remain eligible for master's, postgraduate and advanced learner financial support in the 2020/21 academic year and will continue to have access to student loans and grants, even if the course concludes after the UK’s exit from the EU.
Manchester Alumni Scholarship Scheme
The Master's Scholarship is offered to students and alumni of The University of Manchester enrolling onto one of the Business School's taught Master's courses in September 2020. To reward academic merit, we give a £3,000 award to those achieving a first class honours degree. The award is deducted from the course tuition fee at registration.
Master's degree bursaries
The University’s Manchester Master's Bursary offers 75 bursaries each year for master's students, worth £4,000 in funding. The bursaries are aimed at widening access to master's courses by removing barriers to postgraduate education for students from underrepresented groups, so applicants need to meet a number of criteria to be eligible. Last year, there were more eligible applications than places, so meeting the criteria is no guarantee of an award.
North American Foundation Awards for Postgraduate Study at the University of Manchester (NAFUM) Master's Scholarship
For applicants from the USA, there are scholarships of up to $7,500 available as a contribution towards tuition fees. This award can be held alongside other awards. Applications will open in early 2020 with decisions expected in early May 2020.
Prodigy Finance
If you are an international student and have been accepted onto one of our Full-time MSc courses, you can apply for a postgraduate loan with Prodigy Finance.
BAföG funding
German applicants can apply for BAföG funding in the form of a grant, subsidy, state or bank loan.
