INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS FINANCIAL AID

Lincoln University provides a diversified environment of a growing number of various international students from around the world. Known as the first historical black college founded in 1854, Lincoln University has continued to open its gates to the global community.

Many of Lincoln's international graduates have gone on to become outstanding leaders in their countries, including Nnamdi Azikiwe, ‘30, Nigeria's first president; Kwame Nkrumah, ‘39, first president of Ghana; Rev. James Robinson, ‘35, founder of Crossroads Africa, which served as the model for the Peace Corps; and Sibusiso Nkomo, Ph.D., ‘81, Director, University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Financial aid for International students applying to undergraduate programs is very competitive at Lincoln University. International students are not eligible to receive Federal or State-based financial aid, therefore the student is expected to finance the entire cost of education.

However, Lincoln University does offer an International Scholars Scholarship awarded annually to only 10 new incoming students with an SAT score of 1000 or higher and a 3.3 or higher high school GPA. This scholarship covers only full tuition and fees. The Office of International Programs and Services determines the students that will receive the International Scholars Scholarship. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years if the student maintains a 3.3 cumulative GPA, and earns at least 30 credits each academic year for four years.

Alternative Loans are another option for international students who may not qualify for the above scholarships. The Salliemae Smart Loan, require all international students to apply with a U.S citizen or permanent resident as a co-signer for the loan.
