PhD Position in Health Economics

At the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Basel the Chair in Health Economics has received a three year funding for the research project "Smarter Physician Reimbursement: Evidence from Recent German and Swiss Reforms" through the National Research Program 74 "Smarter Health Care". It has an opening for a PhD Position in Health Economics with start date April 1, 2017 or by arrangement.

We offer the opportunity to conduct high-quality research in a scientific and international work environment. The successful candidate is interested in theory and applications in the area of health economics. He/she has a Master's degree in economics, strong academic record (GPA of 5.0 or better is required for students from Swiss Universities, or equivalent for students from abroad), a solid background in micro-economics and -econometrics and an interest in quantitative empirical work. Excellent knowledge of German and English (spoken and written) is required as well as excellent communication and rhetorical skills and the ability to work in a team.

Candidates can expect to work in a challenging position with unique possibilities for research, skills development, and interaction with stakeholders in the health care system. The position is for 3 years.
