University College London Aubrey Sheiham Dental Public Health Studentship

The UCL Research Department of Epidemiology and Public Health is pleased to offer a one-year Studentship for full-time students undertaking the MSc in Dental Public Health

The awards will start in October 2016 and the Studentship will consist of £2,500 towards tuition fees. The recipient will be expected to secure the remaining part of their tuition fees and to cover their living costs. 

Eligibility requirements 

Candidates can be from any country but must be intending to pursue the full-time UCL MSc in Dental Public Health; and by the deadline for the Studentship application they must have received an unconditional offer of admission. Applicants with a conditional offer can apply for the Studentship but must receive an unconditional offer before the end of July 2016 to be eligible for the Studentship. 

Selection criteria 

Awards will be made on the basis of experience, qualifications and future academic potential assessed by curriculum vitae and through Skype interviews. Short-listed candidates will be also asked to write a 2000-word essay on a pre-defined public health topic. The Studentships will be awarded upon the recommendation of an academic selection panel chaired by Head of Department, Professor Richard Watt.

Value and duration 

The value of each award is £2,500. Awards are tenable for one year of full-time study only for the session 2016-2017. Terms and conditions of the award;

  • The Studentship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards or bursaries.
  • The Studentship cannot be transferred to another institution, nor deferred to a later year.
  • The Studentship will go towards the recipient’s tuition fees; any remaining tuition fees will be payable by the recipient.
  • The Studentship payments will only be made if the recipient is fully enrolled on the MSc Dental Public Health programme.
  • All awards are subject to the provisions of the General Regulations for Scholarships, Awards, Bursaries, Prizes and medals.

Studentship Application deadline

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on 18th July 2016. Applications will be reviewed by the academic selection panel and short-listed candidates will be invited for a Skype interview and will be given a topic for the essay. Important notes Studentship applicants without an admissions offer at the time of the studentship deadline will be excluded from the application process at this point. It is for this reason that we recommend you apply for admission as early as possible. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Those short-listed will be notified by email not later than 10th August 2015. It is expected that the whole selection process will be completed by the end of August. Successful and reserve candidates will be notified either in writing or by email thereafter.
