We are delighted that The Wincott Foundation offers a one-year full fee scholarship for a post graduate Masters student at School of Journalism, Media and Cultural Studies.
The Scholarship is to support excellence in financial and business journalism and is available to any student with a place accepted on one of Cardiff’s practise-based vocational Masters courses. During the course they will be expected to focus on business and financial reporting in their elective module and projects.
Business, Finance and Economics journalism is an area of specialist expertise of growing importance. As such, for graduates with a focus on these areas there are very strong employment opportunities.
It’s about more than market reporting. As Luigi Zingales, professor at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, put it in his Wincott Memorial Lecture in 2015:
“Inquisitive, daring and influential media outlets willing to take a strong stand against economic power are essential in a competitive capitalist society. They are our defence against crony capitalism.”
