About the fellowship

Applications are invited for a Career Development Fellowship in English at Keble College, Oxford, tenable from 1 October 2017. This is a fixed-term four-year position. The college is seeking to employ an outstanding scholar with research interests and teaching abilities in twentieth- and twenty-first century literature.

This post is intended for an individual in the relatively early stages of their academic career. The successful applicant will be expected to have a doctorate in English, and to use the period of the fellowship to begin building an international research profile. They would also develop their teaching experience by offering up to six hours per week teaching for the college in term time. An interest in teaching prose writing (fictional and/or non-fictional) and an ability to teach nineteenth-century prose writing would be advantageous, as would an ability to teach American literature.

Career Development Fellows are expected to participate fully in the administration, admissions, and similar duties, of their subject, and to participate in interdisciplinary activities and links within the broad research area to which they belong.

The stipend of the fellow will be on the University’s Academic Scale, Grade 6, from £27,629 to £32,958 with a discretionary range to £36,001 p.a., along with other benefits including research support allowance (currently £1,315) and college dining rights.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 6 March 2017.
