Islamic and other Countries Scholarships

These Scholarships are offered by the University to students from Islamic and other countries. Nominated students may receive these scholarships during the Fall semester and the Spring semester of the same academic year, though they are NOT allowed to transfer the scholarship to the next academic year. Students must meet academic scholarships terms and conditions in order to maintain the scholarship.

There are two types of these scholarships:

Internal scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to applicants from within the State of Qatar. These scholarships include exemption only from tuition fees and book fees and do not include university accommodation or air tickets. To apply for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a Qatari High School Certificate or its equivalent.
  2. Meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

All applicants to this scholarship may submit the Parent or guardian Salary Certificate to the Scholarships Section.(Optional)
 

External Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to applicants from outside Qatar. These applicants may be nominated by their embassies or may apply directly to Qatar University. They will be sponsored by Qatar University and these scholarships include exemption from tuition fees, provision of university accommodation, and annual round trip air fare ticket and textbooks fees exemption.
To apply for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a Qatari Secondary High School Certificate or its equivalent.
  2. Meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

It is highly recommended that all applicants to this scholarship may submit the Official English test score reports to the Foundation Program for applicants to Colleges that require Foundation Program

H.H. the Emir of Qatar's Scholarships for Academic Excellence

These scholarships are offered by the University to outstanding expatriate students who attain high averages in the Qatari Secondary Education Examinations. Ten male and ten female scholarships are awarded each year. These Scholarships include exemption from tuition fees and book fees. To apply for these scholarships applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a Qatari Secondary Education Certificate.
  2. A minimum average of 95% in the secondary school certificate.
  3. The applicant should be a secondary school graduate in the same year in which the scholarship application is made.
  4. These scholarship awards are only made in the Fall semester.
  5. The applicant must register in Fall semester.

Students must meet a number of conditions in order to maintain the scholarship.

Outstanding Performance Scholarship

This scholarship is offered to full-time Qatar University students who pay tuition fees and whose performance is outstanding in University courses (Bachelor Degree).These Scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.
Applicants for this Scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  1. Must be enrolled in Qatar University.
  2. Must have completed the University Foundation Program.
  3. Must have minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50 out of 4.00.
  4. Must have completed at least 30 credit hours in QU.
  5. Students with the highest cumulative GPA will be selected.

Students must meet a number of conditions in order to maintain the scholarship.

QU Honors Program Scholarship

The Honors scholarship targets the active Honors students in Qatar University . It will be given to 5 Honors students each academic year. Students are released from paying the courses fees.
Student must satisfy the following conditions:

  1. An applied Honor student must complete Freshman Seminar (core 1)
  2. An applied Honor student must complete at least 3 credit hours from the core curriculum courses (core 2 and core 3)
  3. An applied Honor student must not have any violation with QU policies and regulations.
  4. An applied Honor student must not have any other scholarship.

Students must meet a number of conditions in order to maintain the scholarship.

GCC States Scholarships (Embassies)

These scholarships are offered by the University to students of GCC countries who hold the High School Certificate or its equivalent in their countries or any other country with the exception of the State of Qatar. A number of scholarships are allocated to each GCC country. Such scholarships can be postponed to the second term in the same academic year but not to the next academic year. Beneficiaries of these scholarships are exempted from tuition fees and receive free accommodation from the University. Student must satisfy the maximum period of studies terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section.

To apply to these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Hold a High School Certificate equivalent to the Qatari High School Certificate.
  2. Obtain a letter from the embassy addressed to Qatar University requesting consideration for this specific scholarship.
  3. Meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to.

GCC Students Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to the following:

  1. GCC students who hold the Qatari High School Certificate.
  2. GCC female students married to Qatari Nationals.
  3. GCC students of a Qatari Mother.

To apply to these scholarships, applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to. These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.

Student must satisfy the maximum period of studies terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section.
All applicants to this scholarship must submit the following documents to the Scholarships Section:

  1. GCC students who hold the Qatari High School Certificate: High School certificate to be submitted to the Admission Department.
  2. GCC female students married to Qatari Nationals: the marriage contract and copy of the ID card of the husband.
  3. GCC students of a Qatari Mother: copy of the ID card for mother and of the birth certificate for student.

Inhabitants of Qatar Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to students who hold the Temporary Card (Inhabitants of Qatar). To apply to these scholarships, applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to. These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.

Student must satisfy the maximum period of studies terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section.
All applicants to this scholarship must submit a copy from the ID card and Temporary Card.

Children of Qatar University Employees Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to the children of Qatar University employees. The University offers a maximum of two scholarships to two children of the employee at one time. If the parents are both working at Qatar University, tuition fees for a third child are reduced by 50%. To apply to these scholarships, applicants must meet the admission requirements for the college and major that they applied to. These scholarships include exemption from tuition fees only.

All applicants to this scholarship must submit the following documents: 

  1. Copy of the student Birth Certificate
  2. Letter from Human Resources of Qatar University verifying the employment of the parent(s)

Qatari National's Children Scholarships

These scholarships are offered by the University to students of a Qatari mother or a Qatari father. Recipients of these scholarships are exempted only from tuition fees only.

Student must satisfy the maximum period of studies terms condition as clarified in the terms and conditions section. To apply for these scholarships, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. The Applicant should hold the Qatari High School Certificate.
  2. The Applicant should complete the High School Education (including First, Second and Third class) in Qatar.
  3. The Applicant's Family should be resident at Qatar.
  4. The applicant should meet the admission requirements of the intended program.


All applicants to this scholarship must submit the following documents:

  1. A photocopy of the student's mother / father Qatar ID card.
  2. A copy of the student's birth certificate.
  3. A letter of completion for high school levels (including first, second and third level) in Qatar.

College of Education Diploma Scholarships:

Qatar University offers a number of scholarships for students who want to join the Diploma programs offered by theCollege of Education. The scholarship includes an exemption from tuition fees only excluding any other benefits.

Terms and Conditions

To apply for the Diploma scholarship, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

  • The student should fill the scholarship application form during the allocated time determined by the university and stated in the Academic Calendar.
  • The applicant must be Qatari, or has a Qatari Travel Document, or have worked in Qatar for at least 10 years or born in Qatar.
  • The applicant should be working in an independent school or any governmental educational organization. He/she should attach the necessary supporting official documents.
  • It should be the first time for the applicant to apply for a scholarship at the same category offered by the College of Education.

Conditions to maintain the scholarship

If the student wants to maintain the scholarship, he/she should meet the following criteria:

  • The student must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50 out of 4 at the end of each semester.
  • The duration of studying shouldn’t exceed three semesters excluding the semesters of absence and withdraw.
  • The student should not be absent or withdraw for two separated or consecutive semesters.

If the student fails in meeting any of the conditions to maintain the scholarship, it will be canceled and the student will have to pay the tuition fees of the following semesters. After the student's scholarship has been canceled, he/she will not be eligible to receive that scholarship again, regardless of whether the situation is amended. In all cases, the academic policies will be applied on the student as shown in the Student Handbook.

All applicants to this scholarship must submit the following documents:

  • A certificate from Immigration Department states the residence period of the applicant in Qatar
  • Photocopy of the applicant’s Qatar ID card (Non-Qatari applicants must provide a copy of their passport)
  • “To Whom It May Concern” certificate from the applicants employer (independent school or any governmental educational organization)

Arabic Program for Non-Native Speakers Scholarships

 This scholarship is designed to learn Arabic for non-native speakers students from outside Qatar. The admission process to this scholarship is handling by the International Students Section in coordinating with the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Program. The student can apply to this program as a personal applicant or the student can be nominated by one of the organizations which have an established agreement with Qatar University and admitted by the President of Qatar University to grant scholarship in annual basis. The program duration is one academic year.

Beneficiaries of this scholarship may apply for other grants and scholarship after completing the Arabic for Non-native Speakers Program. Students who benefit from short scholarships may enroll in courses outside the Arabic for Non-native Speakers Program on the basis of a proposal by the Arabic Department and approval by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, with a maximum 9 credit hours in a term.
