Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC)-Armenia invites to a presentation on
“Public Trust towards Government in three South Caucasus Republics”
to be delivered by Vanuhi Matevosyan (CRRC-Armenia Junior Fellow)
The research paper studied public trust towards government in three South Caucasus countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia) with different levels of democracy. The data from the CRRC Caucasus Barometer surveys (2006-2013) was analyzed through several statistical tests. The analyses show that people in Azerbaijan, which has lower level of democratic score and is classified as a consolidated authoritarian regime, trust in their government more than people in Armenia and Georgia, which have relatively higher democratic scores (democracy scores are driven from Freedom House). The hypothesis is supported and a statistically significant correlation is found between people's perception of democracy in their country and their trust towards government.
