Preparation for your masters degree
The Pre-Masters Programme is a one-term programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training that is specifically designed to meet the needs of international students. You will gain the specialist skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your Masters degree.
Pathways
Business, Law and Social Studies
You will study English, Business and Management, and Research Methods and Project. Optional modules include Economics, and Introduction to Law Studies.
Engineering and Computing
You will study English, Computing, Maths, and Research Methods and Project.
Course structure
Both pathways are modular in structure. All modules have been carefully designed to focus on the academic area most useful to your chosen degree.
Each pathway includes coursework, lectures, small group seminar work and self-study.
Progression to Liverpool John Moores University
Once you complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter your chosen postgraduate degree at the University.

Age: You should be 18 years or older
Nationality: Available to international and EU students
English language requirements*: IELTS 5.5 (with minimum of 5.0 in all sub skills) or equivalents

For the Pre-Masters Programme in Business, Management and Law, you may hold a degree that is not necessarily related to the programmes you are aiming to progress to.
For the Pre-Masters Programme in Engineering and Computing, you will need to hold a degree that is in a related area and has Maths content.
* The English language entry requirements stated are for information regarding entry to the course. If you require a UK visa to study, depending on the type of visa you need, the English language requirements and valid English tests to satisfy the UK visa criteria may differ.
If you are applying to study in the UK under the Tier 4 student route it may be necessary for you to submit a Secure English Language Test (SELT) as part of your visa application.
