About Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
Each year, EMBL and Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions will fund about 20 EIPOD positions involving at least two research groups, preferably located in different units. Each project will have one scientific supervisor from EMBL who will officially host the EIPOD, but all projects will involve extensive collaboration with the EMBL partner lab(s). External partners from academia or industry are welcome. All applicants must develop a research proposal as part of their application and should get directly in contact with potenatial EMBL supervisors to prediscuss projects prior to submission. It also allows candidates the possiblitiy to ask any questions they may have.
Official interviews
The official interviews take place on November 26th. Candidates give a short talk in the morning and are interviewed by a panel consisting of EMBL faculty and external experts in the afternoon.
Who are we looking for?
Interdisciplinarity is the basis of the EIPOD fellowship programme. As such we welcome applications from highly motivated fellows interested in moving into a new area of research. It is envisaged that fellows bring their specific skill sets to an EIPOD project and benefit from acquiring a new set of skills. Many EIPOD research projects involve groups located at different EMBL sites. Additional external partners from academia and industry are also welcome. As such mobility is an asset.
We recruit EIPOD fellows from a wide range of backgrounds including, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, medicine, engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science and bioinformatics. Interdisciplinarity is an important strength of research at EMBL and as such we welcome fellows interested in moving into a new area of research.
Who is eligible?
The EIPOD fellowship programme is open to all nationalities, the only criteria being scientific excellence and interdisciplinarity. You must have your PhD (or 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience) before you can start your EIPOD position. We welcome applications from scientists who are currently doing postdoctoral research at another institution. Postdocs at EMBL are also eligible to apply provided that previous affiliation with EMBL does not exceed 12 months in the last three years prior to the submission deadline.
EIPODs will join the EMBL Postdoctoral Programme with its broad range of advanced training and career development opportunities.
