The “CNIO Friends” initiative, launched in November of 2014, was designed to promote individual philanthropy and micro‐sponsorship as a source of funds for the Centre, as well as to bring the CNIO closer to society.
Thanksto these funds, we have created a Post‐Doctoral Contract Programme that offers doctors, of all nationalities, the opportunity to carry out a postdoctoral stay at the CNIO. This second call offers 2 postdoctoral contracts, for a duration period of 2 years each.
Requirements for Candidates
Candidates will need to meet the following requirements in order to participate in this call:
- Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or an official specialist title – of medical specialist (MIR), FIR, BIR or QIR
- Candidates must present two reference letters, one of them from their Thesis Director
Application Review and Selection Process
Candidates will be evaluated by a Committee made up of CNIO scientists. The selection process will be based on the candidate´s CV and previousresearch experience according to the following criteria: the number and relevance of the publications, previously obtained scholarships, participation in international conferences, recommendation letters and other merits (patents, stays in centres of research, etc.). The best candidates will be interviewed by the selection committee via Skype conferencing.
The CNIO offers:
The possibility to incorporate immediately to a Centre of Excellence. The CNIO will provide a full‐time employment contract, for a duration period of 2 years, according to the provisions of the Spanish Law, with entitlement to all the benefits available to CNIO employees. Remuneration will be commensurate with the salary tables of the CNIO, and will be determined on the basis of the intervening years between the date of completion of the doctorate and the intended start date. The contract does not imply any obligation on the part of the CNIO after the 2‐year contract has been terminated.
At the end of the 1st and 2nd years of their contract, the enrolled "CNIO friend" shall submit a report that summarises his/her activities and scientific achievements.

The application must be completed online. The CV of the applicants cannot exceed the 5‐page limit. The applicant is responsible for the veracity, accuracy and completeness of the data provided in the online application form. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Only one application per candidate will be accepted. If more than one application is received from the same candidate, only the last one will be considered as valid.
