What is a master's degree?
The master’s degree usually requires one to three years of full-time study. Master’s study follows completion of an undergraduate (bachelor’s) degree.
There are two main types of master’s degree programs: professional master’s degrees and research degrees.
- Professional master’s degrees provide a specific set of skills needed to practice a particular profession, such as MBA (Master of Business Administration) and MEd (Master of Education).
- Research master’s degrees are generally part of the progression to a Ph.D. program, such as Master of Arts (M.A.) and the Master of Science (M.S.) degrees.
Why should I pursue a master’s degree?
