Preparation for your undergraduate degree
The International Foundation Year is a three-term programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training designed to help international students succeed in a UK classroom environment and meet the entry requirements for undergraduate study.
Pathways
Business, Law & Social Studies
You will study English, Maths, Business and Law, Economics, and Introduction to the Social Sciences. You will also complete a self-study project.
Engineering, Computing & Life Sciences
You will study English, Maths, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. You will also complete a self-study project.
Course structure
Both pathways are modular in structure. The modules have been carefully designed to focus on the academic area most useful to your chosen degree.
Each pathway includes coursework, lectures, small group seminar work and self-study.
Progression to Liverpool John Moores University
Once you complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree at the University.

Academic: Good high school graduation grades or equivalent academic study
Age: You should be 17 years or older
Nationality: Available to international and EU students
English language requirements*: IELTS 4.5 (minimum 4.0 in writing) or equivalent
If you don’t meet the English language requirements, you can attend the English Language Preparation (ELP) course to raise your level of English.

Iran | Successful completion of High School Diploma (3 years) with passes in 4 relevant subjects |
Japan | Successful completion of Kotogakko with a GPA of 2.0 |
Jordan | Successful completion of Tawjihi with average of 50% in 4 relevant subjects |
Kazakhstan | Successful completion of ATTESTAT/Certificate of Secondary Education |
Korea | Korean high school graduation equivalency exam - 60%+ including relevant subjects |
Libya | Successful completion Secondary Education Certificate with average of 60% |
Malaysia | SPM, 4 A-C grades in relevant academic subjects including English and Maths. 4 'O' Level passes at grade C or above in the appropriate subjects, or equivalent evidence of satisfactory completion of secondary or high school education. |

* The English language entry requirements stated are for information regarding entry to the course. If you require a UK visa to study, depending on the type of visa you need, the English language requirements and valid English tests to satisfy the UK visa criteria may differ.
If you are applying to study in the UK under the Tier 4 student route it may be necessary for you to submit a Secure English Language Test (SELT) as part of your visa application.
