Post-Doctoral Fellow Program

OVERVIEW

The Israel Institute Post-Doctoral Fellow Program provides financial support to newly-minted scholars in the field of Israel Studies who have invitations at top-tier universities. Our program enables the most promising recent doctoral graduates to conduct and publish research, engage in public events, make connections, and receive mentoring while they prepare for tenure-track university positions in the field of Israel Studies.

Post-Doctoral Fellows pursue an active agenda of academic book and/or peer-reviewed journal publication (in English), conference participation, and public event speaking.

ELIGIBILITY

To be awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship, applicants must complete their doctoral degrees prior to September 1 (when the Fellowship begins), have a dissertation about modern Israel, plan to maintain Israel as their research focus in the future, and have an unfunded or under-funded invitation to an elite university.

Strong applications will demonstrate an interest in and a long-term commitment to studying contemporary Israel, as well as show promise in securing tenure-track university positions in the United States. Promising candidates will have juried conference papers in English at national or international scholarly conventions and the ability to publish a book or in peer-reviewed publications in English.
