International Education Fee Scholarship (IEFS)

Summer 2016 and Fall 2016 programs

Please do not submit materials for any other term, as they will not be considered.

Undergraduates
- Must have completed 12 UH credit hours, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and be in good academic standing.
- Must NOT have received the IEFS before.
Graduates
- Must have completed 9 UH credit hours, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be in good academic standing.
- Must NOT have received the IEFS before.

How to Apply

Complete and print the International Education Fee Scholarship Application.
Ask two UH faculty of staff members to complete the IEFS Reference Form on your behalf.
- Once completed, the form must be returned to the Learning Abroad office. The person completing the recommendation form can scan and email it to learningabroad@uh.edu or send the form through inter-office mail (our mail code is 2039).
Complete the IEFS application essay.
- The essay should consist of three paragraphs (not to exceed one page). It must be typed (12pt., Times New Roman font) and double-spaced.
- It should describe how the learning abroad program you have selected will enhance your academic program at the University of Houston. Also, please state:
  - Personal and professional goals
  - How your goals fit into your learning abroad program
  - What contribution you will be able to make to your community and college on return
Submit a description of your selected learning abroad program with cost information.
- This may be a photocopy of part of the program brochure or a page from the provider's website.

Depending on the volume of applications, we hope to have award notifications to all applicants by mid-April.

Submit the above documents via email to learningabroad@uh.edu or as a hard-copy to the Learning Abroad office (E. Cullen Bldg., Suite 105).

Once all documents have been received, your application will be marked as complete and will be submitted to the scholarship committee for review.
