Swansea University College of Law will commence a significant period of expansion in 2015. Complementing a number of appointments at Professorial level, the College invites applications for full-time Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs). The positions are tenable for three years from September 2015. Those appointed will undertake PhD research in the College and will contribute to the core LLB teaching programme. The College will provide careful mentoring for GTAs, led by staff with supervisory competence across a diverse range of research fields, including: public law, human rights law, legal philosophy, criminal law and theory, international trade, tort, contract law, commercial law, competition law, and extending to specialist and emerging fields including but not limited to neuro-law, devolution, ‘legal-Wales’, and children’s rights.

Teaching Assistantships are offered for the duration of the expected three-year candidature.
GTAs will be exempt from payment of UK/EU fees and, in an unprecedented level of investment in our postgraduate research community, will be awarded an annual stipend of £18 000 for the duration of the expected three-year candidature. In exceptional circumstances funding may be provided to cover up to a maximum of one further year. These positions are open to all, but please note that only UK/EU tuition fees will be covered by the scholarship. International students are welcome to apply, but will be required to pay the difference between the UK/EU fee level and the international fee level.

Please apply by e-mail to the Director of Postgraduate Research, Dr Bebhinn Donnelly-Lazarov, attaching a letter of application, a complete CV (including the details of two academic referees) and a PhD proposal of no more than two pages. Applicants should also include a piece of written work, which may have been prepared as part of a current or previous programme of study.
