Professorship (W1, tenure track) in Political Science with a special focus on Methods of Quantitative Empirical Social Research
The initial tenure track appointment as Assistant Professor is for six years (§ 64 of the Higher Education Act of the State of Hessen (HHG)). Upon positive evaluation, the incumbent will be promoted to a permanent position at a higher level (W2).
The successful applicant will have an excellent research profile in the methods of quantitative and statistical empirical social research and the teaching of them at university level. He/She is also expected to display a particular thematic interest in peace and conflict research as documented by pertinent national and international publications. It is furthermore assumed that he/she is willing to participate in current and planned research projects at the University and engage in teaching on a wide scale in all the Faculty’s degree programmes.
The incumbent will contribute to undergraduate and graduate instruction in the methods of empirical social research and social science statistics in the Political Science and Sociology programmes at the Faculty. Inherent to the professorship is proactive involvement in the Social Sciences Methods Centre of Goethe University.
HHG persons that obtained their PhD at Goethe University Frankfurt are not eligible to the position. The doctorate should not date back to more than four years and should be complemented by further
