About the program

The Research Committee (Special Account for Research Funds) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the framework of the project “Heteropolitics: Refiguring the Common and the Political”, funded under European Commission (European Research Council - ERC), with Academic Head Prof. Alexandros Kioupkiolis (Principal Investigator), invites candidates to submit applications for three (3) post-doctoral researchers (through the award of a work contract, until 31/03/2020) with a total anticipated remuneration 216.000,00 euro (VAT and taxes included).

Please note that the job positions are situated in 1. Greece, 2. Spain, 3. Italy.

Eligibility criteria 

A. One (1) Post – doctoral Researcher / Greece / 72.000,00 € / until 31/03/2020

Required Qualifications

  • University degree (BA) with a general point average of 7/10 and above (upper second class or higher, and national equivalents for different grading systems).
  • Postgraduate degree in Humanities, Law or Social Sciences.
  • Doctoral Degree related to the subject of the research.
  • Specialization (as major or main subject) in anthropology/social anthropology at the undergraduate orthe postgraduate level (MA or/and PhD studies).
  • Proven knowledge of ethnographic research. (Valid evidence for it can be a relevant dissertation or relevant University degree courses or at least one relevant publication in a scientific journal or a conference presentation or other accredited forms of evidence).
  • At least three (3) scientific publications in: peer-reviewed scientific journals or/and monographs or/and collective volumes.

B. One (1) Post – doctoral Researcher / Spain / 72.000,00 € / until 31/03/2020

  • Doctoral Degree related to the subject of the research.

Selection process 

Submitted proposals will be evaluated by a three-member Evaluation Committee based on the requirements/provisions of the call.

Objections to the evaluation results should be submitted within a period of five (5) days (counting from the announcement date) to the following address: Research Committee AUTh (3rd September Str. - University Campus 546 36 THESSALONIKI – GREECE).

* Proof of Experience:

Employment Certification or/and employment contract, detailing the duration and the job duties and responsibilities. 

The candidates might be invited to an interview (at office/via Skype/ via phone). Missing a scheduled interview is cause for rejection.

Interview criteria

  1. Acquaintance with skills required for qualitative field research: fieldwork in various communities, social movements and political processes, interviews, questionnaires etc. (25 points)
  2. Acquaintance will local culture and history (25 points)
  3. Understanding of the research questions of the action: the ‘commons’, contemporary forms of civic self-organization in diverse social fields and how they transform our understanding and practice of politics (25 points)
  4. Understanding of the requirements of interdisciplinary research and international research collaboration (25 points).
