PHD SHORT-TERM VISITING STUDENT PROGRAM

Danmarks Nationalbank invites applications for PhD students wishing to be hosted by the Research Unit and currently conducting their research in one of the areas of interest to the bank within Economics or Finance. PhD visiting fellows will be allocated office space at Danmarks Nationalbank in Copenhagen, Denmark and will be provided with a monthly stipend equivalent to the stipend currently offered to students enrolled in a doctoral program in Economics at a Danish University (DKK 25,759 or around EUR 3,453).

PhD fellows should already be well advanced in their PhD studies, having completed all their coursework, submitted a PhD thesis proposal, and expecting completion of their PhD dissertation within at most 18 months. Visiting fellows are expected to be physically present at the bank on a regular basis during the week, participate in the banks professional environment, be integrated in the activities of the Research Unit, and work towards the completion of their PhD thesis. Fellows are strongly encouraged to use the extensive data available at Danmarks Nationalbank for their research, collaborate on research projects, present their work to the banks economists.

The fellowships offer support for 6 to 12 months, and requires that the fellow will present his research plan in a seminar at the beginning of the fellowship, present his results at the end of the fellowship, and submit for publication in the Danmarks Nationalbank working paper series his research work within one year of the start of the fellowship.

Fellows must maintain good standing in their academic program at all times, and will be assessed for continuing in the visiting program after 3 to 6 months.

  • A detailed CV
  • Official transcript of the PhD courses and Master courses attended
  • Dissertation proposal including a literature review
  • Evidence of excellence in research, including past completed research papers
  • A letter from the director of the PhD program supporting your application
  • A timeline for your proposed PhD studies
  • Three letters of reference, including one from your main supervisor

If you are a citizen of a country outside the Nordic countries or the EU/EEA you must hold a residence permit in order to reside in Denmark during the Ph.d. program.
