About International Symposium on Endangered Iranian Languages

The International Symposium on Endangered Iranian Languages (ISEIL) proudly announces the second symposium to be held at the University of Paris III: Sorbonne Nouvelle, France, from 8 to 9 July 2016, as part of a cooperation between the Empirical Linguistics, at the Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany and UMR “Mondes iranien et indien” (CNRS, Université Sorbonne Nouvelle, INALCO, EPHE). 

The Symposium is the most significant gathering of scholars from all the regions of the world and across different disciplinary interests in the field “Endangered Iranian Languages”. It serves as a platform for presenting new knowledge and insights.

SUB-THEMES

The theme of the Symposium allows for rich and concentrated dialogues to take place among scholars coming from different disciplinary backgrounds. Authors of abstracts are encouraged to develop their own specific entry points into addressing the theme of the symposium. 

As a broad, but non-exhaustive guide, some of the sub-themes that will be covered by the symposium include:
  • Developing of an Atlas for endangered Iranian languages or dialect Maps
  • New methods, conflicts and solutions concerning documenting endangered Iranian languages
  • Philology, Morphology, Phonology, Syntax of endangered Iranian languages
  • Dialectology of endangered Iranian languages

GENERAL GUIDELINES

The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) encourages the submission of original scientific material unpublished at the time of the abstract submission deadline. 
  • Abstracts should be submitted in English only. 
  • Please send only Word or PDF files.
  • No longer than two pages, 
  • Including examples and references (1 inch / 2.5cm margin; font 12), 
  • Written in a Unicode-compatible font.

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS

Abstracts may be selected for Oral presentation or Poster presentation.
The SPC will meet to finalize the programme – creating sessions based on the abstract reviews. Please note that, in order to make the conference as inclusive as possible, only one oral presentation per person will be accepted.
When your proposal is reviewed, you will receive an email with the results. Authors of abstracts whose entries are selected will be notified by the Scientific Committee by March 2016 and will be requested to confirm their pre-register for the conference by April 30. Authors will be notified of the final programme by May 2016.

REGISTRATION

Registration takes place on the first day of the conference. 
Conference fee: 50 Euro
For students: 30 Euro
The conference fee includes conference material, coffee breaks and the dinner.
