The NYU Jordan Center for the Advanced Study of Russia offers a variety of funding opportunities and residency programs to students and scholars throughout the year. Learn more about Spring 2020 deadlines below.

Fellowship in Advanced Research
Deadline: 05/01/2020

The Jordan Center Fellowship in Advanced Research supports outstanding NYU doctoral students who seek to carry out dissertation fieldwork in Russian Studies during the 4th and 5th years of the doctoral program.  The fellowship is designed to partially fund the cost of archival research and fieldwork conducted during the academic year, with priority given to work pursued in the Russian Federation and former Soviet Union.

Fieldwork and Language Training Fellowship 
Deadline: 05/01/2020

The Jordan Center Fieldwork & Language Training Fellowship supports doctoral students who seek to continue study of the Russian language or conduct dissertation fieldwork during the summer session. The fellowship is designed to partially fund the cost of study or research during the summer semester, with priority given to work pursued in the Russian Federation and former Soviet Union.


Short-Term Fellowship Program
Deadline: 05/01/2020

The Jordan Center Short-Term Fellowship Program is designed to facilitate research in local collections, expose visitors to the intellectual life of the Russian field at NYU and in the greater New York community, and acquaint faculty and graduate students at NYU with the most recent world-wide trends in the study of Russia. The fellowship program is geared toward scholars who have earned their doctoral degrees or the equivalent. 

Visiting Scholars Program
Deadline: 05/01/2020

The Jordan Center visiting scholar fellowship program aims to support scholars whose research interests are focused on Russia. The fellowship provides individuals with access to the NYU library system, office space when available, invitations to Jordan Center events, and membership in the Jordan Center community. Visiting Scholar affiliation is generally available by academic semester (Fall/Spring/Summer) for up to three terms with the possibility of renewal for one additional year. Advanced PhD students pursuing research related to their dissertations are welcome to apply. Please note Visiting Scholars are not employees of NYU and under no circumstances should they be considered as such.
