Cost of living

Living costs in Sweden depend largely on your individual lifestyle. You should not count on being able to live on less than SEK 8,370 a month, which is the minimum amount stated by the Swedish Migration Agency. This sum is also slightly less than what Swedish students live on. Therefore, before you leave home, make sure that you will be able to finance your stay. It will save you a great deal of unnecessary stress and contribute to a much more enjoyable study experience in Sweden. For more information about living costs visit Study in Sweden.

Payment of Tuition Fees

An application fee of SEK 900 (approximately EUR 100) applies to all SLU programmes and courses. To apply, visit www.universityadmissions.se.

Once you have received notification of admission to a Master’s programme at SLU and have confirmed your offer, you will receive an invoice by email for the tuition fees for the first semester.  Along with the invoice, you will receive information on how and when payment should be made.  Once the tuition fees for the first semester are paid, you can apply for a residence permit through the Swedish Migration Board, Migrationsverket.

If you are a student admitted to courses at SLU you need to contact the Admissions Office in order to receive an invoice. It is only possible to receive an invoice after the selection results is published.

Exemption of paying tuition fees

There are some exemptions for international students from outside EU/EEA and Switzerland, who don't need to pay the application fee and the tuition fee.

Please read more at University Admissions on the webpage Am I required to pay.

Refund of Tuition Fees

SLU does not refund tuition fees, but exceptions can be made in individual cases if it has been established that there are exceptional circumstances. We can only make refunds to the same bank account that the tuition fee was paid from. To avoid problems regarding refunding, we strongly recommend you make a bank wire transfer from an account where you are the registered account holder. For further information, please contact the Admissions Office at SLU.
