Studies within higher education and taught in a language other than Finnish or Swedish are tuition free for nationalities within
- The European Union (EU)
- The European Economic Area (EEA)
- Switzerland
- To prove your citizenship, you must upload a copy of a valid passport or national ID card with your citizenship included on the document.
Citizens of Non-EU/EEA Countries
Citizens of the non-EU/EEA countries (excluding Switzerland) must pay a tuition fee for each academic year.
- Tuition fee for LUT University: EUR 10 000 / each academic year
YOU ARE HOWEVER, NOT REQUIRED TO PAY A TUITION FEE, IF YOU ARE:
- Non-EU/EEA citizen having a Permanent Residence Permit Card in Finland (P)
- Non-EU/EEA citizen having a Long-Term Resident's EU Residence Permit Card in Finland (P-EU)
- Non-EU/EEA citizen having a Fixed-Term Continuous Residence Permit Card in Finland (A)
- Non-EU/EEA citizen having an EU Family Member's Residence Card in Finland
- Non-EU/EEA citizen having an EU Blue Card in Finland
- Your residence permit card or residence card must be granted by The Finnish Immigration Service
- Your residence permit card or residence card must be granted by The Finnish Immigration Service
YOU ARE MOST LIKELY NOT TO PAY TUITION FEE IF YOU ARE:
- Non-EU/EEA citizen but married to a Finnish citizen
- Non-EU/EEA citizen but a family member to EU/EEA citizen having a right to reside in Finland
- Your residence permit card or residence card must be granted by The Finnish Immigration Service

Scholarships at LUT University
LUT University Scholarship Programme
Scholarships are offered for students with a non-EU/EEA nationality (excluding the Swiss students), who are applying through Regular Admission to Master's Programme/s at LUT University (taught in English) and who are required to pay a tuition fee.
Partner University Scholarship Programme at LUT University
Scholarships are offered for students from the partner universities with a nationality of a non-EU/EEA country (excluding Switzerland), who are applying through Double Degree Admission or Trilateral/Joint Degree Admission to a Master's Programme at LUT University (taught in English) and who are required to pay a tuition fee.
3 Different Categories for Scholarships
- 50% Tuition Fee Scholarship: Covering for 50% of the tuition fees
- 100% Tuition Fee Scholarship: Covering for 100% of the tuition fees
- Full Scholarship: Covering for 100% of the tuition fees in a 2-year Master's Programme plus, the living costs for EUR 5 600,00 per year
NOTE: Full Scholarship is a very rare one and awarded only for students with exceptionally high points scored in the selection process. All the Programmes are not offering Full Scholarships.

There are NO scholarships offered for the first academic year in the following programmes: Biorefineries, Industrial Design Engineering and Software Product Management and Business.
How to Apply for a Scholarship?
When required to pay a tuition fee, you are eligible to apply for a scholarship when applying through Regular Admission / Double Degree Admission / Trilateral/Joint Degree Admission.
- You will apply for a scholarship on the same application form when applying for the Master's Programme.
- You will apply for a scholarship in general, not for a scholarship in a certain category.
- No additional documents for applying for the scholarship are required/considered.
No Specific Criteria for Eligibility
Other than the citizenship being a non-EU/EEA one, there is no specific criteria for being eligible to apply for a scholarship.
