The University of Northern British Columbia is committed to encouraging students from diverse backgrounds and experience to further their academic education through the establishment of scholarships, which promote academic excellence, and bursaries, which assist students in overcoming financial barriers to post-secondary education. Graduate Entrance Awards - Master's & PhD Applicants Applying for January 2020 Semester Entry

Graduate Entrance Scholarship (GES):  Valued at $10,000 each, these awards are available to full-time* students who are entering a Master's or Doctoral Program at UNBC for the first time who have not previously held a GES.  Consideration is based on academic excellence (graduate admission GPA of 4.00 or greater).  These awards are renewable at the Master's Level for up to one additional consecutive year, and at the Doctoral Level for up to two additional consecutive years based on renewal criteria listed within the GES Application.

* Applicants/students in the MBA Program are not eligible to apply for this scholarship as the MBA Program is offered on a weekend delivery basis.

Deadline to submit the GES Application to the UNBC Awards & Financial Aid Unit via awards@unbc.ca is May 1, 2019.   

Graduate Entrance Research Award (GERA):  Valued at $5,000 each, these awards are available to full-time students who are entering a Master's or Doctoral Program at UNBC for the first time.  PhD students may hold 2 (two) GERAs per year for a total of $10,000 annually.  Consideration is based on academic proficiency (graduate admission GPA of 3.67 or greater).  Students must be registered in a research/thesis-based degree with the applicant's research falling within these priority areas: 1)  Humanities & Social Sciences (see the information within the GERA Application for more specifics), and 2) Sciences & Applied Sciences (see the info within the GERA Application for more specifics).  These awards are renewable for up to one additional consecutive year, based on renewal criteria listed within the GERA Application.
