Summer School on CSR Management
Overview
The HSBA Summer School on CSR Management – Corporate Social Responsibility in a Globalised World is designed to train you in the fields of business ethics, sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to stimulate a discourse about current and future goals, challenges and most importantly about the social and economic opportunities that correspond with responsible and sustainable business conduct. It offers a unique chance to discuss current issues, future trends and new business models with your peers from around the world as well as with high profile lecturers, key note speakers and business representatives.
The next CSR Summer School will take place from 01 to 12 July 2019.

General Information
The HSBA Summer School lasts two weeks. During this time you will take part in 60 hours of lectures including case studies and guest lectures. Our Summer School puts a high emphasis on application orientation and we therefore include visits to partner companies of HSBA as well which will give you the chance to build up a business network. Last but not least there will a social programme during some of the evenings helping you to explore as much of Hamburg as possible. All courses as well as the extracurricular activities take place in English.
The workload of the summer school in total is 125 hours, which is equivalent to 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) or approx. 3 US credit points. After successfully preparing and completing a final presentation on a business case, you will receive an HSBA certificate, which will specify your workload and grading as well as your newly-gained qualifications. It will depend on your home university whether the credits and grades earned at HSBA will be acknowledged towards your final degree.

Social Programme
While of course we want you to learn as much as possible during your stay at HSBA, we believe that this does not only have to take place in a classroom. A fun and inspiring extracurricular programme is also an integral part of your summer school experience in order to extend your social network and to make new friends from all over the world!

Admission Requirements
If you would like to apply for the Summer School on CSR Management, please make sure you meet the following requirements:
- Language requirements: English at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or TOEFL 90 points, IELTS 6.0 Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English or equivalent, proof of Bachelor or Master studies where English was the language of instruction
- Studies: Bachelor or Master level with a focus on business administration (business/economics) or other related sciences (social sciences, philosophy, politics or law). PhD students will be allowed to participate only if they are in their first year of studies.
- Professionals: Participation possible if graduation no longer ago than 4 years.
- Grades: Above average grades in current or previous studies, shown by proof of university (among top 30% of students of your cohort).
Application Procedure
To apply for the Summer School on CSR Management you will need to hand in the following documents:
- Application Form (see "Downloads" to your right)
- Letter of motivation (max. 1 page)
- Diplomas, transcript of records
- CV
- Proof of English language requirement (TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge Certificate, proof from university)
- Proof of current or final grade to be among top 30% of students of your study programme (proven by examination Office, you may use the template provided by HSBA).
- For PhD students only: Confirmation of your supervisor that you are in the first year of your PhD studies, you may use the template provided by HSBA).

Based on these documents the admission committee will then select the most suitable candidates. No more than 25 students will be admitted to the HSBA Summer School.
Please send your application to Zara Berberyan. The deadline is 30 April 2019.
Be aware that you will have to contact the relevant German representatives offices in order to determine whether you will need a visa. Also you will have to take care of your visa application.
Please also make sure that that your health insurance covers all HSBA Summer School activities in Germany. HSBA´s liability is restricted by the regulations made by the German law.
Fees & Scholarships
The Summer School fees are 1300 Euro.
All participants applying before 15 February 2019 receive an early-bird discount of 50%.
We are granting several scholarships and awards:
- One 100% and two 50% scholarships to highly motivated students with financial challenges. If you would like to apply for a scholarship please indicate in your letter of motivation your special suitability for being a scholar by explaining your motivation and by indicating why you are facing financial challenges.
The fees include:
- Tuition fees
- Company visits
- Cultural and social Programme
- Library, computing facilities and Internet/wifi
- Welcome reception and farewell dinner
- Enrolment at HSBA and certificate earned on the completion of the programme
The fees do not include:
- Travel costs for getting to Hamburg, Germany
- Extra travel outside of the Programme
- Food and beverages (unless specified)
- Public Transportation
- Accommodation

Terms and Conditions
Deposit and Payment
All accepted students are required to pay the full tuition fees no later than 14 days after submission to the programme, otherwise we cannot guarantee your enrolment.
Any international wire transfer fees incurred while making your payment need to be paid by you. Please speak to your local bank concerning fluctuations in the currency conversion to ensure that HSBA receives the full amount due. Unfortunately we cannot accept checks and credit cards.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to attend the programme, you must submit a withdrawal notice (medical certificate or other official confirmation) in writing by email, fax or post.
Cancellations will be refunded as follows:
• Withdrawal submitted by 15 May: 100% tuition refund
• Withdrawal submitted by 1 June: 50% tuition refund
• Withdrawal submitted after 1 June: No refund given
Unfortunately we cannot refund tuition if the cancellation is made last-minute.
In the case of cancellation due to refusal of a visa, tuition fees will be refunded, provided that the participant informs HSBA no less than three weeks prior to the start of the program. For refund, it is necessary to provide HSBA with an official prove of refusal of the visa.
In the event that the minimum number of participants is not reached within 6 weeks of the beginning of the event, HSBA is permitted to cancel the event. HSBA is obliged to notify the registrant immediately that the course has been cancelled. In such a case, the registrant does not have any right of recourse to HSBA. HSBA reserves the right to change the event schedule for important reasons.
