MA in Critical Political Studies

The master program in Critical Political Studies is designed to provide post-graduate level education for students interested in the fields of international studies and political theory. In this interdisciplinary program students will critically engage with overall political issues and contemporary theoretical debates in the fields of global politics, comparative politics, international relations, conflict and post-conflict studies, citizenship and social movements, feminist theory, art and culture and their social and political role, and urban theories.

The program focuses on critical approaches to problems, themes and issues related to fast-changing socio-political landscapes. One of the aims of this program is to strengthen the critical aspects of political theory and political studies by creating broader cross-disciplinary reflections on emerging political perspectives and alternative imaginaries.

The program is conducted in Serbian and English.

The program provides students with conceptual analytical frameworks to critically examine and understand rapid transformations of contemporary politics, society, economy and arts as well as dramatic consequences these changes have on individuals, communities and movements.

Students can expect to gain knowledge of contemporary academic discussions and build a solid theoretical and methodological foundation based on which they will conduct their own research. Upon completion of all course requirements in the one-year MA program in Critical Political Studies students will receive 60 ETCS and a Master Degree in Critical Political Studies.

Applications from local, regional and international students are accepted. Applications from candidates holding an undergraduate degree or an MA degree in Social Sciences and Humanities, as well as from other related disciplines are welcomed.

An international, interdisciplinary group of lecturers from different fields within social sciences and humanities (philosophy, political theory, cultural studies, research methodologies, etc.) is responsible for conceptualization and realization of this MA study program.
