About UNFPA: The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. Background and Objective
A safe and successful passage from adolescence into adulthood is the right of every child. This right can only be fulfilled if families and societies make focused investments and provide opportunities to ensure that adolescents and youth progressively develop the knowledge, skills and resilience needed for a healthy, productive and fulfilling life. Further, national and global development, security and social justice can only be achieved if adolescents and youth are included as full and active participants. UNFPA partners with young people, helping them participate in decisions affecting them, and strengthening their ability to advance human rights and development issues such as health, education and employment.
In Armenia one of the major UNFPA initiatives in this area was the establishment of Youth Peer Education (Y-PEER) Network in Armenia, where young people share their knowledge of sexual and reproductive health related issues with their peers. In addition, UNFPA supported introduction of Healthy Lifestyle education curriculum in the state education program for 8-11 grade students of all schools in Armenia.
The Project Coordinator substantively contributes to the effective implementation of the UNFPA activities in the area of youth development, including youth health education and strengthening youth engagement through the establishment of youth platforms.
