Workshop for doctoral students
During the XIIIth international conference on Gregory of Nyssa in Rome, which was devoted to the Homilies on the Song of Songs, the organisers made the suggestion that half a day should be allocated for graduate workshops. This opportunity for research students to discuss their research with experts in nyssen studies proved very fruitful. That is why we are offering this call for applications from doctoral students to such a workshop during the 2018 conference, which will focus on the Homilies on the Lord’s Prayer.
Workshops are open in order of priority to PhD candidates working on a text by Gregory of Nyssa or on a theme related to his work that may go beyond the topic of the conference. Students working on topics close to that of the conference but via the study of other writers from the IVthe century can also apply (commentaries on Sunday prayer, anthropology and theology of prayer, pardon or issues of edition and translation, etc.).
Doctoral students are of course invited to attend the whole conference. Workshops can take place in French, English, Italian or German and Spanish is a possibility. Workshop proposals (title and abstract of 1 or 2 pages) along with a brief CV and a letter from the student’s supervisor should be sent before 31 December 2017 to the following email address : phdworkshop@gregoryofnyssa.org. For the workshop, a detailed presentation of the PhD (max. 10 p) along with a statement on achievements to date or conclusions on a specific point to be submitted to the discussion.
