ERASMUS MUNDUS EUROPEAN MASTER OF SCIENCE IN FOOD SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND BUSINESS (BIFTEC) 

The two-year European Master of Science in Food Science, Technology and Business (BiFTec) is jointly organised by three European partner institutions: KU Leuven, Anhalt University of Applied Sciences (HSA) and Catholic University of Portugal (UCP). It fosters innovation and technology to help you cope with future needs and sustainability. BiFTec adopts a horizontal, multidisciplinary approach to a broad range of topics related to food production, processing, and agribusiness. The programme also offers specialisation with state-of-the-art courses on food processing, development, and business. Upon graduation, you will receive a joint degree from the three consortium partners. 

Truly international

BiFTec attracts students from all over the world, which adds a valuable intercultural element to your experience. In addition to positions offered directly by the consortium partners, you will get the opportunity to conduct your professional competence module and/or your master’s thesis research at an associated partner institution or organisation in New Zealand, the USA, Russia, Italy, Poland, or Germany. 

Admission requirements

To be eligible for BiFTec, you must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in food science and technology, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, or a related field from a recognised academic institutions. You also have to provide evidence of your English proficiency.

Scholarships

Erasmus+ scholarships will be awarded to top applicants from all over the world for three consecutive intakes, until and including the intake for the academic year 2018-2019. The full scholarship covers tuition fees, full insurance, and part of your costs for travelling, housing, and living for the entire duration of the study programme. The full scholarship amounts up to € 47,000 for non-EEA citizens and up to € 34,000 for EEA citizens. 

TUITION FEES

For the 2017-2018 academic year the tuition fee is € 4,000 for EEA students and € 8,000 for non-EEA students. The tuition fees for future academic years can be higher, as a result of indexation.
