The purpose of ZKS-Foundation’s Walter Haug scholarship is to benefit scientific research in the held of German Medieval Studies or connected medieval research branches, to help promote scientific research and to honor Walter Haug's memory who received 2008 the ZKS Prize for German literature posthumously.
The scholarship is to allow a PhD student each year in Switzerland to finance a stay of three to six months abroad in the context of their research work with a contribution of 2500 CHF for month. The same applies for a PhD student from abroad at a Swiss University. The PhD student can also ask for an additional amount of CHF 3000 to cover the publication of his/her thesis if mentioning “published with the Zeno Karl Schindler Foundation’s support “.
The call for proposals is carried out in the half-yearly updated on line bulletin of the Swiss Academic Society of German Studies (SAGG), as well as on the website of the ZKS Foundation, it is also augmented by targeted mailing to and advertisements in the specialized institutes of the Swiss universities.
Applications from candidates (with curriculum vitae, project description and justification of the stay abroad) are receivable up to 15 September every year and have to be emailed to :- Prof. Dr. René Wetzel, Université de Genève, Département de langue et de littérature allemandes: Rene.Wetzel@unige.ch.
Applications will be submitted for decision to the ZKS Foundation Board at its autumn session.
The scholarship is awarded during the annual meeting of the Swiss Academic Society of German Studies (SAGG), which usually takes place in November. The awarded has then the opportunity to present his/her dissertation or some aspects thereof.
