Council on Middle East Studies: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Modern Middle East Studies, 2020-2021
The Council on Middle East Studies (CMES) at the MacMillan Center invites applications for a post-doctoral position at Yale University for the 2020-2021 academic year. Candidates must have research and teaching experience relevant to the Modern Middle East, including any period from early modern to contemporary (1500 - present). The Council invites applications from across the social sciences and humanities with a focus on the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, Egypt, or Turkey.
The Post-Doctoral Associate will teach one course during the year, preferably in the Fall semester, convene the Middle East Studies Colloquium, and assist the chair of the Council with programming. Associates are expected to be in residence from August 2020 to May 2021 and take an active role in the activities of the Council on Middle East Studies.
Qualifications
Requirements include a viable research project and teaching an undergraduate seminar in the field of specialization. All applicants should have in-depth knowledge of at least one Middle East-related language; be fluent in English; and must have completed the PhD by the time of appointment.
