Assessing the Security Implications of Genome Editing Technology

This International Workshop aims at evaluating current evidence for the nature and likelihood of genome editing risks and exploring potential for future developments and options for governance strategies. From October 11-13, 2017, it brings together international experts in genetic engineering, security studies and public policy at Herrenhausen Palace, Hanover. Travel Grants available!

Travel Grants 

The Volkswagen Foundation offers travel grants for PhD students or early Post Docs (max. 5 years since PhD) researching on genome engineering or biosecurity and analysing current and potential applications in organisms such as microbes, plants, animals or humans. Applicants can win one of 20 travel grants to take part in the international workshop in Hanover, Germany. Successful applicants will get the chance to present their research in a Poster Session and/or Lightning Talk. The posters will be displayed during the entire workshop. The grants include travel expenses to and from Hanover, visa fees (if applicable), as well as accommodation in Hanover (excl. cab fares, parking, food and beverages while travelling as well as poster printing costs). 

Applicants are required to apply until June 15th, 2017 by using the application form. 

Venue and Public Transport

The international workshop is held at Herrenhausen Palace, a modern conference center in Hanover, Germany. You can reach the venue by tram: Take line 4 or 5 and get off at "Herrenhäuser Gärten".

Accommodation for Participants

Please note that you are responsible for booking your accommodation. As Hannover is a city that hosts many fairs, we recommend booking a hotel as soon as you register.

Cancellation

Please cancel your registration if you cannot attend the workshop. We have a waiting list for the meeting and can offer your place to another person if you cannot attend. Simply use the registration tool to cancel or send us an email.
