Future Medicines: Gene & Cell Therapies
Learn about the promises and challenges of advanced therapies throughout the drug life cycle. How do advanced therapies differ from conventional molecular approaches? How can we discover potential targets? How can we test human-derived therapeutics in animals? Are current laws sufficient to regulate innovative therapies? What is needed to get advanced therapies from bench to bedside? In this course we will cover these topics in an interactive manner combining lectures, discussions, and workshops. All steps in the drug life cycle will be discussed.
In this course we will discuss all aspects of the drug life cycle and how these aspects influence the medicine of the future. From the discovery of suitable drug targets to the development of the actual drug, From delivery to quality control. If we strive for personalized medicine and every drug is unique - how do we ensure quality and safety? Finally, we will address the financial aspects of healthcare.
