PhD student in Medical Sciences in the field of Neuropsychopharmacology

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate interested in pursuing research within the field of Neuropsychopharmacology and Psychoneuroendocrinology. The PhD student position is placed in the research group Neuropsychopharmacology at the Department of Neuroscience.
Project description Our projects seek to advance knowledge on mental health related to stress and sex hormones. We study how psychosocial factors interact with alcohol and nicotine in relation to biological factors. We also research on the molecular mechanisms behind the effect of sex hormones on behavior and mental health. Through the application of genetic, endocrine, pharmacological, neurophysiological as well as brain imaging measures, in rodents as well as in humans, we aim to investigate interactions between genes, sex hormones and the environment. The purpose is to deepen knowledge on brain structure and function as well as behaviour behind stress, drug exposure and after various pharmacological treatments.
Requirements The applicant should hold an academic degree in Biology, Medicine, Bioinformatics, Psychology or related areas. We are looking for someone who has good basic knowledge within the areas of biostatistics, and molecular biology, with experience in neuroimaging data analysis, and with a genuine interest in psychoneuroendocrinology. Good skills in spoken and written English are necessary.
The applicant must be able to work independently and be well organized. As a person, he/she should be highly motivated, thorough, systematic, and goal-oriented. She/he should also be good at working in a group. Special attention will be paid to documented experience and previous publications.
