University of Sydney Postgraduate Scholarship in Multi-Scale Modelling of the Lymphatic System

Have you just completed honours in mathematics, physics or engineering?

Do you want to apply your skills to advance our understanding of the human body?

Researchers in the Applied Mathematics group at the University of Sydney are part of an international consortium of four universities working to create biological knowledge and experimentally informed computer models of the body’s lymphatic system, which is where immune response is mounted.

The system is also central to cancer metastasis.

The consortium includes nodes in the UK and US, and actively involves other major universities as well. Its five-year funding by the US National Institutes of Health has just been renewed. The group at Sydney has the opportunity to lead this international modelling effort, and to guide the direction of the work of the experimental laboratories overseas. There would be opportunities to collaborate with overseas researchers, including the possibility of embedding visits, and to present work at domestic and international conferences.

Amount awarded

An Australian or New Zealand applicant who was in possession of an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) or equivalent scholarship would be eligible for a top-up scholarship of $10,000 per annum for the duration of the APA. An Australian or New Zealand applicant without an APA would be considered for a full scholarship of $22,920 per annum, for up to 3 years.
