Post Doctoral and Doctoral Student positions in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The University of Oulu is one of the largest universities in Finland. With about 14 000 students and approximately 3 000 employees it is a vibrant international scientific community. By combining multidisciplinary research and education, high-level infrastructure and wide cooperation with international research and educational institutes, companies and the public sector it has created a significant research and innovation hub of “Science with Arctic Attitude”.
The positions are located in the Research Unit of Medical Imaging, Physics and Technology (MIPT), Faculty of Medicine, University of Oulu, Finland . Currently MIPT consists of 11 research groups and it offers high-quality training in medical imaging, physics and technology. The Research unit is located at University of Oulu Kontinkangas campus.
Cardiovascular diseases are the biggest cause of death worldwide, and almost half these deaths are due to ischemic cardiac disease. Fibrosis is a part of almost all cardiac diseases and fibrotic tissue is present in normal cardiac structures. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an important diagnostic and research tool for cardiac studies. We have developed and applied novel MRI contrasts without contrast agents to detect cardiac fibrosis.
