No one can be appointed as a post-doctoral fellow for more than one specified period at the same institution.

Description of the project and the job

We are searching for highly motivated candidates with a strong interest in cortical circuits. We aim at determining cortical circuit functions in fully awake behaving animals using optical and electrophysiological methods. The position is funded by the European Research Council to study the role of specific neuron types in the cortex. The candidate will use state of the art imaging and electrophysiology techniques to record neuronal activity and optogenetic perturbations to identify cell-specific contributions to cortex function.

Qualifications

We seek candidates with a strong background in cortical physiology, electrophysiology, rodent behavior and data analysis. The candidate should be creative, critical and organized in analyzing data. The candidate should have a proven track record of publications in high impact journals. Competence in rodent behavior protocols, microsurgery, and programming (Matlab/LabVIEW) are a plus.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent degree. The candidate should be able to work independently and structured, while at the same time engage in close collaborations. Emphasis will be attributed to team-working abilities and personal skills.
