A three-year PhD fellowship position (SKO 1017) for a qualified candidate with background in medicine, pharmacy or statistics is available at the Department of Pharmacology. The project is located at the research group of Associate Professor Marianne Klemp, at the Department of Pharmacology, Institute of Clinical Medicine, the Faculty of Medicine, and University of Oslo. The position is financed by the University of Oslo. The purpose of the PhD Fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree. The Fellowship requires admission to the PhD program at the Faculty of Medicine.
Appointment to a PhD research Fellowship is conditional upon admission to the Faculty’s research training program.
Description
Candidate for this position will work mostly with comparative effectiveness of drugs and drug classes. The project will have emphasis on performing systematic reviews of clinical trials in order to assess medicinal treatment effects (both benefits and harms). This project uses advanced statistical approaches (network- and meta-analyses) to analyze treatment effects within drug classes. The project aims at examining how much better a new drug treatment is compared to already existing drugs to establish better drug treatment options for patients.
The successful applicant will work in close contact with both a biostatistician and the supervisor within a strong academic environment.
Requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated and structured candidate with interest for evidence based medicine. The ideal candidate has a strong CV with some scientific experience and good collaborative qualities. The applicant must have a Master’s degree (or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian Master’s degree).
Experience with performing systematic reviews, statistics or literature searches is considered an advantage.
