A 3-4-year PhD fellowship is available at the Department of Psychology, University of Oslo.

The position is part of the Convergence Environment "Proton contra cancer (PROCCA)", funded by the University of Oslo: Life Science initiative, that will employ 4 PhD students at the Department of Physics, Institute of oral biology, Institute of clinical medicine, and the Department of Psychology, respectively. The 4 candidates will work in a highly translational field together with a multidisciplinary team consisting of physicists, biologists, immunologists, oral biologists, oncologists and psychologists. The focus of this position at the Department of Psychology is to study psychological late effects after radiotherapy in head and neck cancer survivors. 

More about the position

The appointment is a fulltime position available for a period of three to four years. Fellows who are appointed for a period of four years are expected to contribute to teaching and administration with about 25% of their working time. Teaching and administrative duties would contribute to activities of the Department of Psychology.

The PhD candidate will work with questionnaire data from the HNC survivorship study, collected at Oslo University Hospital (OUH), and will interview a subsample of participants from the HNC survivorship study. The candidate will collaborate with the PhD student at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo/Department of oncology, OUH.

The research fellow must take part in the Faculty’s approved PhD program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

Qualification requirements

  • Applicants must hold a Master’s degree or equivalent in psychology (Professional program or Master's Program).
  • Fluent in Norwegian and have excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Have experience with statistical analysis.
  • The candidate must be qualified for admission to the PhD program at the Faculty of Social Science, University of Oslo.
