PHD SCHOLARSHIP - PHYSICO-CHEMICAL INTERACTIONS IN NATURAL SOFT SOILS
A PhD scholarship is available for a PhD student to investigate physico-chemical interactions in natural soft soils under the supervision of Dr Jubert Pineda and Laureate Professor Scott Sloan.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a PhD studentship, to investigate physico-chemical interactions in natural soft soils. The multifaceted research project will combine high quality in situ and laboratory testing with numerical modeling using a 3D fully-coupled Finite Element code capable of performing coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical (THM) analysis in geological media. We are seeking for highly motivated candidates interested in doing high quality research-based postgraduate studies. Suitable applicants will have a Civil Engineering background, preferably with an MSc in Geomechanics. Candidates should have relevant experience in experimental testing and/or numerical modeling.Closing date for applications: 10 January 2017 The scholarship is available to commence in March 2017.
SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
The value of this scholarship is $26,288 per annum in 2016, indexed in January each year. The scholarship is for a period of three years, with the possibility of a six-month extension.
ELIGIBILITY
Suitable applicants will have a Civil Engineering background, preferably with an MSc in Geomechanics. Candidates should have relevant experience in experimental testing and/or numerical modeling.
This scholarship is available to International and Australian candidates.
