- Summary: Dorothie Hewlett (1918-2011), artist and teacher, was born in South Africa and spent parts of her childhood in Dumfries and Malawi. She travelled widely throughout her life and maintained a strong affinity with southern Africa, particularly the countries of Malawi, Tanzania and South Africa.
- Value - what money is on offer: £4,850 (deducted from tuition fee)
- Who is eligible: Nationals of Malawi, Tanzania and South Africa and preference may be given to candidates from the first two countries. Applicants must have the equivalent of at least a UK 2.1 Bachelors degree in English or a closely related subject. Applicants should also have an IELTS of 6.5 or equivalent. Applicants must have made an application to the School for an academic place prior to submitting their scholarship application. The Scholarship Committee considers all applications on academic merit alone.
