The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (ICS) is an internationally renowned Research Center and Graduate School in the field of Sociology, located in The Netherlands at the Universities of Groningen, Utrecht, Nijmegen and Amsterdam (UvA).

Description

The Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology ICS offers fully funded PhD scholarships for a variety of projects. The PhD students will be appointed for a three or four-year period, with a formal evaluation at the end of the first year or after one year and a half. In this period the graduates will work on their individual project, leading to a doctoral dissertation.
The program (fully taught in English) will start September 1st, 2017.

Qualifications

Excellent candidates who recently graduated or will graduate shortly in Sociology are invited to apply. Graduates in Psychology, Educational Sciences, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related disciplines are also encouraged to apply.

Conditions of employment

We offer a temporary full time appointment for one or one and a half year. After a positive evaluation the appointment will be extended to four years maximum. The generous scholarship amounts to € 2,191 before taxes in the first year of the appointment, increasing to appr. € 2,801 before taxes in the fourth year. The salary is supplemented with an annual holiday payment of 8% and an end-of-year bonus of 8,3% per year. Other secondary conditions include a.o. a pension scheme, partially paid parental leave, and flexible employment conditions. Tuition fees do not apply.
