The School of Business, Economics and Law has more than 3700 students, 470 employees, and 160 international university partners. There are four departments for the School’s main areas of study. The School is one of about 80 universities in the world with a Triple Crown accreditation. This includes the EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA accreditation associations, which ascertain an international recognition of high quality management education.
The Department of Business Administration, with around 150 employees and 50 doctoral students, is the largest department in the School of Business, Economics and Law. The Department consists of the sections Accounting, Marketing, Management and Organisation, and Industrial and Financial Economics and Logistics. We are one of the leading research department in the Nordic countries and our research has a strong tradition in empirically based research aiming for publications in well-recognized scientific journals.

Assignments

We are looking for 7-8 doctoral students in Business Administration, placed at the department’s four sections: Industrial and Financial Management & Logistics, Management & Organisation, Marketing and Accounting respectively.

An employed doctoral student should primarily devote themselves to their own education.

A doctoral studentship entails full-time work. Departmental duties may amount to a maximum of 20% of full time spread over the period of study. The total period of employment may not exceed a period corresponding to four years of full-time third cycle study. The time at which the research student was studying but not employed as a doctoral student will be deducted from this period. The regulations governing the employment of doctoral students may be found in Chapter 5, §§ 1-7 of the Higher Education Ordinance. Only a person who is being admitted or already has been admitted to a Ph.D. programme may be employed as a doctoral student.

This doctoral studentship leads to a doctoral degree in Business Administration.

Eligibility

The applicant must meet both the "General entry requirements" and the "Specific entry requirements".
To meet the "general entry requirements" the applicant must have
1. a degree awarded at second-cycle (advanced level),
2. completed studies worth at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are awarded at second-cycle level (advanced level), or 3. an equivalent level of knowledge acquired in Sweden or in another country.
To meet the "specific entry requirements" the applicant must have at least 90 higher education credits in Business Administration or have equivalent qualifications. These credits must also include a thesis worth at least 15 higher education credits or the equivalent knowledge acquired by some other means.

Assessment

In selecting between applicants who meet the general and specific entry requirements, their ability to benefit from the study programme is taken into account. Applicants are assessed based on the following criteria:
Documented subject-related knowledge of relevance to the research field. Documented knowledge of scientific theory and methodology.
Analytical skills, verified through scientific reports, essays, degree projects or other such work.
Admissions and selections are conditional on the Department’s resources to provide supervision within the doctoral student’s focus area.
The admission decisions are made by the Head of Department following preparation in the Department’s committee for research and Ph.D. studies (FFK).
