Civil and Environmental Engineering Scholarships for students holding foreign educational qualifications
The University of Brescia, for A.Y. 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 issues this call for applications for a scholarship destined for students with a 3-year minimum Bachelor's Degree (or other eligible qualification) awarded in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam who intend to enrol in the first year of the Master's Degree Programme in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
Academic year 2017/2018:
The total scholarship of €5,500.00 is awarded to a student with a 3-year minimum Bachelor's Degree (or other eligible qualification) awarded in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar or Vietnam.
The scholarship shall be awarded, based on the assessment of the presented curricula, according to the irrevocable decision of the Board, who shall be appointed by Chancellor's Decree.
Students wishing to apply for the scholarships must submit the following documents via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org by 1 pm Italian time on 30 APRIL 2017:
• declaration in lieu of certificate pursuant to Art. 46 of Presidential Decree no. 445 of 28 December 2000, certifying academic career, on unstamped paper, addressed to the Chancellor of the University of Brescia (this list may be presented in original language if in English, French or Spanish);
• copy of passport;
• for university qualifications issued in languages other than English, certification of English proficiency (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL,...);
• curriculum vitae;
• reference letter or name and e-mail of a professor from the university of graduation;
• any other documents deemed useful by the applicant.
The Board reserves the right to request additional documents and/or subject the applicants to interview via Skype.
Academic Year 2018 - 2019:
Students awarded scholarships for the academic year 2017/2018 that obtain 33 CFU (University Credits) by 10 August 2017 will have their scholarships renewed under the same financial conditions for the academic year 2018/2019. This limit may be lowered for specific and exceptional cases, upon evaluation by the Chancellor's Delegate for the coordination of internationalisation activities.
Payment of scholarships:
The scholarships shall be issued to the successful applicants, provided that they are correctly enrolled in the first (2017/2018) or second (2018/2019) academic year of the Master's Degree Programme.
The scholarships shall be paid in a single instalment within 30 days of enrolment for the academic year 2017/2018 or 2018/2019.
The successful applicants will be required to present their tax documents, which will be detailed in subsequent notification, in order to determine their "financial situation" through calculation of their ISEE (Indicatore di Situazione Economica Equivalente - Equivalent Financial Situation Indicator).
University enrolment fees are understood to be paid by the student and are determined based on their ISEE.
Students requiring accommodation in the University residences will be charged a monthly rate that is established based on their ISEE and the type of room.
They will also be awarded access to the catering service based on their ISEE category.
The scholarships will be subject to withholding tax and social security contributions provided for by current legislation, including costs borne by the University. The total scholarship excluding taxes is established according to the financial and household situation of the successful applicant, e.g. the minimum taxation applied currently is 8.5%, equivalent to the IRAP (regional tax on production activities) to be deducted from the scholarship in case of application of personal tax deductions.
The total cost including taxes, including costs borne by the university administration shall be taken from:
for the academic year 2017/2018, €5,000.00 from the funds of the DICATAM Department (donation from the Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Charity Fund) COAN A.04.02.01.020.050 and €500.00 from the MIUR funds for internationalisation 2011 - 2020;
for the academic year 2018/2019, €5,500.00 from the MIUR funds for internationalisation 211 - 2020.
Pursuant to and in accordance with Italian Legislative Decree 196/2003, any personal information gathered shall be processed, including with IT tools, exclusively for the purposes of the procedure for which the declarations are made. (See University Regulation on Personal Data Protection)
