Most people can come up with a business idea that looks good on paper, but how can you be sure your idea is going to fly? This business course will show you how to apply entrepreneurial thinking and provide you with the tools and frameworks to successfully identify and evaluate business opportunities and ideas.

Starting with an overview of the entrepreneurial process, you will identify what constitutes exceptional business opportunities and understand how to evaluate their underlying characteristics. You’ll consider the dimensions that affect decision-making about new business ideas and put key decisions to the test on your own business ideas. You’ll learn how to gauge the quality of your business idea or opportunity and assess the ability of the team you bring together to execute the venture.

You’ll learn how to make sense of ‘gut feel’ when deciding whether to invest in a potential business and practice using rules of thumb (heuristics) to make such decisions, based on your own experiences. Through a series of practical investigations, you’ll develop a collage or ‘mental template’ from which to examine potential business investment opportunities.

You’ll be working with the expert team at the Entrepreneurship, Commercialisation and Innovation Centre (ECIC) at the University of Adelaide. They have worked with entrepreneurs like you and have facilitated the establishment of many successful businesses. You can be confident that what you will learn in this course is road-tested and high-impact - not just theoretical.

Join us and make your business ideas fly.
