About

Our Undergraduate Vacation Scholarships are run over the Australian summer holidays and offers high achieving and promising undergraduate students the opportunity to collaborate with leading CSIRO scientists in our world class facilities.

Students will have the chance to work on a real project in science, engineering or a related field such as science communication. Placements are full time and will typically be from 28 November 2016 to 10 February 2017.

Participation in the Vacation Scholarship Program has influenced previous scholarship holders in their choice of further study and future career options. Many have gone on to pursue a PhD in CSIRO or to build a successful research career within CSIRO, a university or industry.

CSIRO Global plays a central role in the development and implementation of CSIRO's strategy, including the development of CSIRO's presence overseas. The team supports the full range of CSIRO’s international activities by working closely with staff from a range of areas within CSIRO, as well as collecting and sharing data on CSIRO’s presence and engagement overseas.

Who we are

At CSIRO, we do the extraordinary every day. We innovate for tomorrow and help improve today – for our customers, all Australians and the world.
Our value to the Australian economy is massive. Even just considering six CSIRO contributions, the Australian economy reaps $5 billion a year in benefits from the Australian Animal Health Laboratory, our work in cotton, our longwall mining technology, our Opticool energy control system, our Novacq prawn feed, and our water resource assessment work.

With more than 1,800 patents, we are Australia’s largest patent holder. This ever-increasing wealth of intellectual property is a vast source of commercial opportunity and has already resulted in more than 150 spin-off companies, with many more to come.
