How to apply

This bursary is now available for application on the new Scholarships and Funding Catalogue. If you have applied to a new course beginning in the 2016-2017 academic year, you will receive an email with instructions on how to access the catalogue.

If you are a current student at St Andrews, you can access the catalogue through the Scholarships and Funding section on iSaint.

Selection Process

Stage 1: All eligible applications submitted online are assessed by University selection panels, with decisions based on academic merit and career potential.  A shortlist is drawn up and selected candidates are notified in late May.

Stage 2: The Thomas and Margaret Roddan Trust assess the shortlisted applications and make a final decision. In addition to academic merit and career potential, they will also consider financial need.

If your application is shortlisted by the University at the end of Stage 1, you will be asked to complete the Roddan Trust Full Application Form (Word, 19 KB), which includes questions about the candidate's financial situation and asks for referee details. Please do not submit the Full Application Form unless we notify you as a shortlisted candidate in late May 2016.

You are welcome to download and familiarise yourself with the form, but please be aware that any such forms received before the University selection stage, or by candidates who are not shortlisted, will not be considered.

When should I apply to my chosen course?

Please apply for the scholarship after you have submitted your application for a place at St Andrews. You do not need to wait until you have received an offer of a place before applying for the scholarship.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

Late May to late July 2016, depending on the progress of your application.
