Summer Volunteer Camp «Be active. Be creative. Be helpful»
The RAIZVANGUARDA – Cultural Association is a cultural organisation, based in an Old Primary School in Bordeiro. The school closed almost one decade ago, and RV opened its doors to the community with the Escola-Studio RAIZVANGUARDA project and Artist in Residency programme in 2014. However, this space needs ongoing improvements to ensure it reaches its full potential. As a result, we’re searching for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in connecting with a wide range of people, and who can contribute their time to the restoration and renovation inside primary school in Bordeiro, Góis, Portugal.
PROGRAMME
Work Activities (5 hours per day): restoration of music room; renovation of workshop and dance studios; polishing and painting the walls and ceiling; cleaning of the storage room with the possibility to recycle some old pieces of furniture. Your help will also be needed to maintain the small garden and help in the kitchen.
Leisure activities: During the week a wide range of leisure activities will also be planned including: welcome party, outdoor activities (hiking, cycling, kayaking), barbeque, Open Air Cinema, ping pong, swimming in the river.

ACCOMODATION
Gender neutral shared living quarters: shared dorm, bathroom, shared kitchen and dining/living area. Residents also have access to outdoor space, balcony, laundry service, Wi-Fi connection, bike.
FOOD & DRINKS (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks) provided. Participants will be able to cook their meals together. Special diets can be accommodated.
ABOUT BORDEIRO, GÓIS
The village of Bordeiro is located 4 km from the town of Góis, Coimbra district, in the central part of continental Portugal. This was an ancient pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. It is located in a deep, narrow valley of Ceira, between the mountains of Carvalhal and Rabadão. The rivers, in addition to its fishery resources, are utilized for leisure activities (including its beaches and fluvial pools). The mountains of the Penedo de Góis (1,043 metres) are an invitation to those who love adventure and exploring emotions with nature. Honey, chestnuts, roasted lamb, chanfana and Schist Villages are part of the traditions of this region.
REQUIREMENTS
Volunteers must be motivated to participate in all activities included in the work camp. The following skills are appreciated but not required: artistic skills, decoration skills, craft skills (furniture renovation), gardening skills.
PARTICIPATION FEE
€30. Non-refundable participation fee to be paid on arrival day. The participation fee covers the food and accommodation during the programme. Participants are responsible for covering their daily expenses, visa, travel costs to and from the volunteer camp venue.
